Site Update – Oct 14/25

It has been a long time since my last post, which was not intended.

In November 2024, I went away for a 3-month hiatus.

I went to assist my best friend’s mother in another country as she is aging and needing some extra help.  We went to assess and see for ourselves how she was doing, downsize her, clean everything up – house, shed, garage and yard.

We also went for some time away to reflect on things, maybe change course, figure out what I want to be when I grow up (I’m over 50!), and see some new places…

The one thing we didn’t think we needed to worry about was technology.  I had everything I needed for a different power source, had internet set up in the house prior, and thought I had figured it all out!

Boy, was I wrong.  The power source worked out but nothing else worked.  However.

  • The internet was insufficient and needed to be changed – which ended up taking over 6 weeks to deal with – everything takes longer since Covid – and it bewilders me!
  • My phone wouldn’t work and trying to figure that out took over a month
  • When I did get everything working properly, I couldn’t access the website to update or change things
    • I had set up different security measures in place in order to access the website, and nothing worked to get in – fun stuff!  Actually, it was very frustrating!

Throughout this time, I was focusing on the reason I was there – to help.  I was spending a lot of time trying to sort out technology.

My friend was working now as they could in their own country – so the Mum stuff was on me – which is why I went to assist!

Finally, I was getting everything set up and going – things were moving in the right direction.  I got a few tips published and was in the zone on every level and then Mum fell and everything changed instantly.

The 3-month hiatus ended up being a lot longer – many more months while we worked diligently at the arduous task of getting her into an aged care facility, while becoming a 24/7 caregiver.  Quite different than the process in Canada – so I had to learn and figure out the process – which is in the middle of many changes, so a lot of the people involved in the process are in a state of confusion as these changes are being implemented.

During business hours, I was trying to find out information in between caring for Mum, which was not an easy task.  Due to the fall, it had set her back physically in many ways and mentally – her dementia was increasing fast and furious.  She got depressed due to the fall, setbacks and was more confused.

This was a lot, but I knew I was there to help and that’s just what I did.

I set aside the website while I was doing other things and figured I would catch up when I could.

Once I finally got things to a manageable, routine level, I was ready to get back to the website!

I opened up my laptop, turned it on and nothing happened – nothing worked… My hard drive decided that was the perfect time to shit itself!  Why not!

At first, I was unnerved about it, possibly affected me a bit more with the added stress of everything else but it just hit me wrong that day.  So, I went for a walk and walked it off.

I realized during my walk that it was more important to focus on what I needed to focus on and not sweat the small stuff.

We finally got Mum settled into a care facility and she is doing amazing! She’s thriving – which is awesome to witness as you never know how these things will transpire.

Now it is time to renovate and get the house ready to sell.

Things are now getting back on track, and I should be able to start posting things again real soon – or so I thought until I started having problems with my other computer!

Just thought I would give this update, so that there is some form of understanding and not leave you hanging anymore!

I have definitely learned a lot through this whole process - Patience, learning to relax when things are clearly out of your control and laughing a lot!

Hope life is treating you well!

After living half a century, I have had my ups and downs. I have lived, I have learned, I have loved and I have lost. Finally, after many years, twists, turns, disappointments and discoveries, my life started to change direction. Once that direction took root and I was establishing a new lifestyle, I was ready to teach others how to apply what had taken years to figure out - but I wanted to make it a shorter, easier, hopefully more enjoyable journey.
