Tip of the Week – Online Safety – Apr 8/24

Online Safety:  I came across this interesting website and it gave me the idea to share and discuss this topic.

The 4 R’s of online safety, which I am just learning about after reading this article.

https://www.esafety.gov.au/newsroom/blogs/4-rs-online-safety

  1. Respect – I treat myself and others the way I like to be treated.
  1. Responsibility – I am accountable for my actions and I take a stand when I feel something is wrong.
  1. Reasoning – I question information I am told and find evidence before believing what I read.
  1. Resilience – I get back up from tough situations and help others get back up too.

These are good things to know and to teach the next generations.

It sounds simple, but not everyone thinks about this or does it.  It is important to know things, so that you can utilize them.

“Knowledge is key” is something that has been said for ages but I like to rephrase it a little and change it to “applied knowledge is key”.  Knowledge is only a key if you actually use it!

Questions to Ponder:

Did you know about the 4 R’s of online safety?

Do you use them?

Have you taught them to your children or kids in your life?

Take a moment to read about them and then apply the knowledge in a way that fits into your world!

After living half a century, I have had my ups and downs. I have lived, I have learned, I have loved and I have lost. Finally, after many years, twists, turns, disappointments and discoveries, my life started to change direction. Once that direction took root and I was establishing a new lifestyle, I was ready to teach others how to apply what had taken years to figure out - but I wanted to make it a shorter, easier, hopefully more enjoyable journey.
